Deuteronomy 34:7 And Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated.
Question: Could it be possible that those saints who are alive when Christ comes, like Moses, might never have experienced any of what we now view as the "Natural" aging processes? Let's begin with the scriptural confirmation, which states unequivocally that many thousands of human beings will be alive when Jesus comes, and who will never pass through the portals of the tomb. Let's read:
1st Thessalonians 4:15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
What we now commonly accept as the natural aging process was never ever God's will for His people, even though we all have the issue of sin, and its natural consequences to confront personally. God's ideal will for us living in a sinful world is that we live the entire span of our earthly existence in tip top shape, and in the best of health, and then when our number is called up yonder, that we die suddenly, without years and years of debilitating pain, and pain killers, and without ingesting a multitude of synthetic drugs, which in some cases do more harm than good. This ideal situation can be achieved even in the 21st century, by trusting in God, and by living in harmony with the laws of health that He has given.
For instance, Caleb, who was one of the twelve spies sent out to view the land of Canaan, was one of the adults who the Bible says followed The Lord "Wholly", which suggests to us that he not only exercised a living faith in God, but also cooperated with Him in applying the dietary laws, and the principles of health that were a part of the entire package given to the people. And thus, as a sure result, he too like Moses had experienced none of the adverse results associated with what we view as the natural aging processes, to the point where he was able by the grace of God, to pick a fight with the giants of Canaan at age 85! Let's read:
Joshua 14:6 Then the children of Judah came unto Joshua in Gilgal: and Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite said unto him, Thou knowest the thing that the Lord said unto Moses the man of God concerning me"... 7 Forty years old was I when Moses the servant of the Lord sent me".. "to espy out the land".. 8 Nevertheless my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the people melt: but I wholly followed the Lord my God. 9 And Moses sware on that day, saying, Surely the land whereon thy feet have trodden shall be thine inheritance, and thy children's for ever, because thou hast wholly followed the Lord my God.10 And now, behold, the Lord hath kept me alive, as he said, these forty and five years, even since the Lord spake this word unto Moses, while the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness: and now, lo, I am this day fourscore and five years old. 11 As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in.
12 Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the Lord spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakims were there, and that the cities were great and fenced: if so be the Lord will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the Lord said.
So here we have another undeniable example in the scriptures, that it is not necessary for any believing Christian to succumb to what we view as the natural processes of aging, if as the conditions stipulate, we would follow The Lord "Wholly". And thus it is quite possible that those who will be translated to heaven without ever dying, when Christ returns, could live their entire lives without ever experiencing "The golden years". As a matter of fact, it is the will of God that the golden years be to us like gold, the best of the very best. Let us then plan by the grace of God to make the "Rest" of our lives, the "Best" of our lives.
We therefore end with a passage of scripture which confirms to us the sacred truth about God's will for our lives, even through the golden years. Let's read:
Proverbs 3:1 My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments: 2 For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee. 4 So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man. 5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. 8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.
May God add His blessing to the study and practice of His word. "Good night" and God bless!
