Only God "Alone" Can Forgive Sins. 09/08/2015 (Evening thought)

Luke 5:21 And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?

This passage of scripture teaches us the sacred truth that only God alone can forgive sins, in heaven and earth, because the forgiveness of sins remains God's sole prerogative, and has never been, and will never be delegated to any mortal man. This Biblical truth is so serious and far reaching, that it extends out also to those who may have wronged us, and we have forgiven them, yet without God in heaven granting forgiveness, the sins of the wrong-doer goes no where, but stands as a record against him or her in the heavenly courts, until such time that confession and repentance is made, if ever. Thus, horizontal forgiveness between man and man must be ratified with vertical forgiveness between God and man, or else the sins remain in the books of record in heaven.

In ancient times, the Hebrew people had committed a great sin by making two golden calves to worship and adore, and when Moses came down from mount Sinai, with the Ten writtencommandments in his hands, and realized the extent of their errors, he became very disturbed and broke the tables of stone. Then after he had cooled down, he went to entreat The Lord to forgive the people of their sins, for although his heart yearned after his people, yet he could not presume to absolve them from their sins, for as stated before, only God alone can do this. Let's read:

Exodus 32:30 And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses said unto the people, Ye have sinned a great sin: and now I will go up unto the Lord; peradventure I shall make an atonement for your sin. 31 And Moses returned unto the Lord, and said, Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made them gods of gold. 32 Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin--; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written. 33 And the Lord said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.

Thus, the recent fiat issued by pope Francis is an affront to God, in which he has directed Catholic priests to forgive women who have had abortions. This is the very same snare that Paul warned Christians of, for it was revealed in the scriptures that the son of perdition will presume to sit in the the seat of God, showing himself that he is God, by attempting to do what only God can, and that's to forgive sins. Let's read:

2nd Thessalonians 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

The Jews who did not accept Christ as the Messiah, became incensed when on one occasion Jesus forgave a man of his sins, hence the reason why they asked the rhetorical question in our first passage by saying "Who alone can forgive sins, but God". So, although the forgiving of women of the sin of abortion may sound good, yet it is invalidated in the courts in heaven, if it is granted on a horizontal level only, by a mortal man who presumes to sit In God's seat. If the women in question do not confess their sins to God in heaven, and if there is no repentance and forsaking of the former sins in their lives, the records against their names will stand as a witness against them in the day of judgment, for under no circumstances can they ever be forgiven by pope Francis.

Let us therefore as Christians not be deceived into believing a lie, for these are the very days which Christ and the Bible prophets warned us of, and therefore we should be on high alert for any intrusion of smooth sounding doctrines that are tailor-made to suit itching ears. We therefore end with a passage of scripture which reiterates the sacred truth that only God can forgive sins, and if any man or woman has sinned, we have an Advocate with The Father in heaven, Jesus Christ the Righteous, not Mr. Francis, the pope. Let's read:

1st John 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

May God add His blessing to the study and practice of His word. "Good night" and God bless!
