The Diabolical Work Of false Prophets. 08/23/2015 (Evening thought)

Jeremiah 23:31 Behold, I am against the prophets, saith the Lord, that use their tongues, and say, He saith.  32 Behold, I am against them that prophesy false dreams, saith the Lord, and do tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their lightness; yet I sent them not, nor commanded them: therefore they shall not profit this people at all, saith the Lord.

This passage of scripture speaks volumes to us of the diabolical work of false prophets in our day, many of whom specialize in smooth sermons and motivational speeches, but make no mention of the pertinent truths for this time. In the days of Christ, the people were instructed by the Jewish leaders to expect a King who would deliver them from the Roman bondage, to which they had now been subjected for many years. But instead, The Messiah showed up, and their disappointed hopes and expectations found expression in the general rejection of Christ as being the long looked for Redeemer, who would save us from our sins. Let's read:

Malachi 3:1 Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the Lord of hosts.

In our day, a similar mistake is being repeated by the false prophets, in that they teach the multitudes to expect a Redeemer, when the Bible explicitly states that The King is coming. And because of this false interpretation of the prophetic word, many Christians are now eagerly awaiting the appearance of one who will heal their diseases, put their finances in order, and offer to them all of the material benefits they crave, whilst the work of conversion, which is necessary in order for us to stand in the last days, is left on the back-burner, and almost never mentioned.

Any gospel that does not include obedience to the law of God is a false gospel, for every reformer in the Bible, that was brought upon the stage of action by God, preached a message of repentance and faith in God, which included obedience to His down-trodden law. From Elijah to John the Baptist, and from Isaiah to Peter, they all with one accord sought to call the people back to the worship of The Living God, which includes adherence to the principles of truth and righteousness, at the very core of their messages. Let's read:

Acts 2:36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.  37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

But in our day we have a plethora of "Smoothies", meaning that the fears and anxieties of the multitudes are being pacified with calming words and soothing speeches by false prophets and teachers alike, words which are specifically tailor-made to please itching ears. And instead of giving the trumpet a certain sound, by warning the people of impending doom, and thus informing them of what course of action to pursue to avoid the coming judgments, we are instead being bombarded with a host of motivational speeches, which have the effect of lulling the unwary into a state of carnal security.

The current turmoil that is rattling world markets, and the anxiety and fear that has gripped corporations and financial institutions, are omens of a coming cataclysmic confrontation, between the forces of good and the forces of evil. But instead of giving a faithful warning to the world, many false prophets and televangelists seek only to enrich themselves at the expense of the people, by speaking of peace and safety, whereas God has given to this generation, no such message.

It therefore behooves us to study God's word for ourselves, so that we may not be deceived by the agents of evil spirits, for the deception that is to take the world by storm will if possible threaten the very elect. But we have the assurance from God that if we believe and practice His word, we will be shielded in the days of adversity, for He is faithful who has promised. We therefore end with a passage of scripture which confirms these sacred and solemn truths, and it is the will of God that we now put on the full armor of God, that we may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Let's read:

2nd Thessalonians 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:  9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,  10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. 13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth.

He that hath an ear to hear, let him hear what The Spirit saith to the churches. "Good night" and God bless!
