Isaiah 66:22 For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the Lord, so shall your seed and your name remain. 23 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the Lord.
This passage of scripture reveals to us the sublime and pertinent truth, that the Sabbath of the fourth commandment will be kept in the earth made new, and indeed, throughout all eternity, for it is the memorial of God's creative and redemptive work. In the beginning of this earth's history, God had instituted the Sabbath as a day for man to rest from all his labors of the week, and also that he may hold communion with God and nature. If this institution was honored as it ought to be, there would be no infidels to teach us that man came from monkeys, and there would have been no Darwinian philosopher to propose that the earth evolved over billions of years.
Furthermore, our current system of carbon dating represents a very flawed type of science, that is only reliable up to a certain point, but which becomes very unstable and unreliable when used to date particles of matter that are supposedly millions of years old. If we had kept the Sabbath, and had honored God by doing so, He would have revealed to us the true science which comes from above, because one of His attributes, omniscience, consists of two words, Omni, meaning limitless or infinite, and science meaning all of the sciences, and when put together we have The almighty God who has limitless sciences at His disposal, many of which have never been revealed to mortals, or to any created being for that matter. Let's read:
1st Corinthians 1:19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. 20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: 29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.
Thus the Sabbath in the earth made new will serve as a perpetual reminder of both God's power and wisdom, as is manifested in His created works, and the redeemed of all ages will be privileged to become acquainted with science on a whole new level. In our day, it is necessary that we honor God by keeping His sacred day holy, for it is not merely a commandment which is coming from The King of kings, but it has also been proven to be beneficial to us mortals, resulting in extended life spans on account of the additional rest, which the rest of the world forfeits through disobedience.
We therefore end with a passage of scripture which both reminds and promises the faithful, that the keeping of the Sabbath, together with all of the other commandments, will result in tremendous blessings of mercy, both to ourselves and to our posterity after us, and since practice makes perfect, we are all invited to participate in the rest God has reserved for those who love and honor Him. Let's read:
Exodus 20:5 "For I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; 6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
May God add His blessing to the study and practice of His word. "Good night' and God bless!
