The Investigative Judgment. 07/09/2015 (Morning thought)

Daniel 7:9  I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire.  10 A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened.

This passage of scripture teaches us that there is an investigative judgment now taking place in the heavenly courts, by which the eternal destiny of all individuals will be determined, and the reason why it should cause us to think soberly, is because the results of this judgment are never to be reversed. The reason why it is labeled "Investigative" is because it does just that, in that its purpose is to reveal to the universe why some people will be saved, while others will be lost. There is a hymn that is often sung, which goes like this: "Take my life and let it be", and some of us may not understand the full import of those words. Jesus Christ will take every person's life, whether we willingly give it, or whether He has to take it by force at the final judgment. He will take it for preservation or destruction, but He will certainly take it.

The investigative judgment therefore determines what will become of each person as it relates to eternity, and in reaching the various conclusions, the records of each individual must pass before God for intense scrutiny. Many Christians place the responsibility for their thoughts and actions on Jesus Christ, and this is all well and good in its proper context. But the investigative judgment examines what we have done with Jesus, after we have been reconciled to God by His death and life. Thus the deeds done in the body will show whether we have appropriated the merits of His sacrifice and righteousness to our own lives, or whether we have made a sort of superficial profession of faith.

Sins that are confessed and repented of will find pardon, but those sins that are not confessed will remain on the books to condemn us when our names come up in the judgment. This is the reason why sin must be called by its right name, and no excuses for it must be offered, for it's only when we take full responsibility for sins committed, that the grace of God is engaged to save us from the consequences of eternal death, through the merits of Christ. This is what the thief on the cross did, and this is the reason why he will be granted an abundant entrance into the abodes of bliss, because he acknowledged his sin and did not blame anyone else for his misdeeds. Let's read:

Luke 23:39  And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.  40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?  41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.  42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.  43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.

In our day there are many people who make excuses for sin because of the way they were born or because of the tendencies they were born with. And because of this, girls have evolved to be boys and men have aspired to become women, based strictly on their abnormal feelings and desires. But the grace of God which brings salvation to all men, empowers the willing hearted to overcome even the most powerful propensities, because the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin, if we are willing to overcome and be cleansed. God is not so much concerned with the disease of sin, as He is with the remedy provided in Christ, and thus it is for this reason why the investigative judgment primarily addresses what we have done with Jesus.

Let us therefore not settle for the cheap form of grace, which claims the merits of Jesus, yet lives in blatant opposition to His revealed will, and let us never interpret God's mercy as license to sin, because Jesus Christ was manifested to save us "From" not "In" our sins. We therefore end with a passage of scripture which reiterates this sacred truth, and it is the will of God, that as our names appear in the heavenly courts, that Christ will be pleased to plead in our behalf, knowing that we submitted ourselves totally to Him so that His good work of salvation may be perfected in us. Let's read:

1st John 1:6  If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:  7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.  8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.  9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

May The Lord add His blessing to the study and practice of His every word. God bless!
