Revelation 2:12 And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges; 13 I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan's seat is".... 14 But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication. 16 Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.
The doctrine of Balaam as referred to in our passage for today, has to do with the practice of the spiritual laws of cause and effect, by which an individual or satanic agency can cause very terrible results to accrue to a nation, by getting its populace to depart from the known will of God. When Christians and even secular folk are doing their best to walk uprightly, God's protection hovers across the land, and restrains in large measure, those gruesome crimes and murders that have now become the order of the day. But when we succumb to the temptations of the adversary, to depart from the path of righteousness as outlined in the Bible, then we open the floodgates of woe upon ourselves, and there will be none to deliver, except we humble ourselves in the proverbial "Sackcloth and ashes".
A most notable example of what the Bible is here referring to took place with the Hebrew nation, just before they entered the land of Canaan, for they were at that time walking in harmony with God's commandments and laws, and because of this, an invisible hedge of protection was drawn over them, so that their foes were held at bay. The reason why their enemies could not penetrate their ranks to cause much damage and mayhem is because there were no deliberate sins to be found amongst them, and although they were not perfect at this time, yet they were doing their very best to obey God, and for this He honors nations and individuals with special tokens of loving care and protection. Let's read:
Numbers 23:16 And the Lord met Balaam, and put a word in his mouth, and said, Go again unto Balak, and say thus. 19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? 20 Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it. 21 He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath he seen perverseness in Israel: the Lord his God is with him, and the shout of a king is among them.
But Balaam, who had obviously understood how spiritual laws work, suggested to the Hebrews that they come witness the worship of the pagan god's of the Moabites, and to eat and drink with them in their sensual celebrations of heathen deities, with the sole intent that the nation's hedge of protection might be removed, thus opening up her vulnerabilities to foes who were bent on her destruction. It is a sad account which follows because the devil in this instance was successful in getting the Hebrews to depart from God's will, and as a direct result over 24,000 people died as a result of their indulgences. Let's read:
Numbers 25:1 And Israel abode in Shittim, and the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab. 2 And they called the people unto the sacrifices of their gods: and the people did eat, and bowed down to their gods. 3 And Israel joined himself unto Baalpeor: and the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel. 4 And the Lord said unto Moses, Take all the heads of the people, and hang them up before the Lord against the sun, that the fierce anger of the Lord may be turned away from Israel. 5 And Moses said unto the judges of Israel, Slay ye every one his men that were joined unto Baalpeor. 9 And those that died in the plague were twenty and four thousand.
In our day, the same doctrine of Balaam has now been introduced by those who secretly desire America to become subservient to its enemies, for like Balaam, there are those spiritual leaders who fully understand the spiritual laws of cause and effect, and because of this, many of them are encouraging our nation in a course of action that will certainly meet with heavy retribution and very adverse side effects, by which many innocent people will be slain at random. America is the last great nation in prophecy, and our undoing will not be the result of what Russia and China may do, but rather what sins we countenance and indulge in as a nation, especially if we know better.
Let us therefore do our very best to avoid the withering effects of the doctrine of Balaam, by teaching and encouraging everyone to walk in harmony with the principles of righteousness, for whenever our nation honors God in its actions through the legislature, then the very same invisible shield will be drawn over us, and the many terrorist groups and lone-wolves will be prevented from shedding innocent blood across the land. We therefore end with a passage of scripture which breaks down the spiritual laws of cause and effect for us, and it is the will of God that we now turn our backs on Balaam and his seductive doctrines permanently. Let's read:
Deuteronomy 11:26 Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse; 27 A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you this day: 28 And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the Lord your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known.
