Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
This passage of scripture teaches us that our relationship with God has to be based on trust, for it is the only way that any meaningful dialogue with Him can be established. The reason for this is not arbitrary, but very simple to understand, because the infinity of The God-head will always be light years ahead of our finite minds, and thus it becomes necessary to trust God's word and believe what He says, even though at times it may be difficult, or even impossible to figure out His ways and instructions to us. The fact that God is way past our understanding is clearly delineated in the scriptures, and it's for this reason that belief in Him is a prerequisite for a good relationship to be established with Him. Let's read:
Isaiah 40:28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.
Isaiah 55:8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. 10 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: 11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
In the days of Noah, God had warned the inhabitants of the earth of a coming deluge, and this message of impending doom was preached by Noah for 120 years. But until this point, no rain had ever fallen on the earth, and the people back then did not know what a cloud was, nor had they ever experience thunder and lightening. But because they had not experienced or seen anything like this before, does not mean that it cannot occur, and thus the faith and believing aspect of any relationship with God will take Him at His word, even though there may not be current scientific evidence to support it.
And thus it was, that from approximately 7 billion people, only eight believed and were saved, thus demonstrating the truth of our passage for today, that without faith it is impossible to please God. Whenever God gives us instructions on a particular matter, we should never wait to see whether the institutions of higher learning, or scientific research and analysis will confirm or verify what He has thus spoken. A ready heart and mind of a little child will believe God before any proof is given, and if it is never given, the believing mind will rest content, that God's word is true.
In our own experiences it is therefore necessary that we exercise a living faith in God, especially given the dangerous times in which we now live, for His promises of protection and salvation will be fulfilled to the very letter, in their due season. We therefore end with a passage of scripture which encourages us to trust in God, and the promise is given that whosoever believes on Him will never be ashamed. Let's read:
Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. 4 Trust ye in the Lord for ever: for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength.
May The Lord add His blessing to the study and practice of His every word. God bless!
