1st Corinthians 14:33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. 40 Let all things be done decently and in order.
This passage of scripture teaches us that anything that is connected with the service of God must be done in an orderly and efficient manner, regardless of what sacrifice it may require on our part. Often when planning for the upgrading of our homes, extensive instructions in minute detail is required by us from the contractors, and we make certain that only the very best workmanship and materials go into the project of our undertaking. But when it comes to the service of God, we often fall short in the very same area, for we sometimes give leftovers, or substandard service to Him. In the planning for the tabernacle services, God gave to Moses a very detailed plan that was to be followed to the letter, and every stone and every curtain, together with the dress and trappings for the priest was given in minute detail, so that the service of the sanctuary could be carried on without a hitch.
The same extensive planning and instructions were given by God to Noah when the ark was to be built, for it was not to be assembled in any haphazard manner, contrary to the working of God in the heavens and upon the earth. In the building of the ark, the materials to be used were stipulated, together with the length and breadth of it, and also the amount of stories, or levels it would have. This minute detail and extensive planning by God represents an integral part of His character and should be duplicated as far as possible in His people. let's read:
Genesis 6:13 And God said unto Noah" .... 14 Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch. 15 And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits. 16 A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it.
If we are to serve in God's sanctuary through the spoken word, we should not wait until the last minute to throw a few verses of scripture together in an incoherent manner at the last minute, neither should we expect The Holy Spirit to simply bring an entire sermon to our minds without any serious effort on our part. To do this will be to work contrary to God's methods, and thus when we stand up to speak, what is said will not make much sense. There are clergy men who are required to break the bread of life to the people from week to week, but there is no focus or deep thought in their presentations, for they jump from subject to subject without any in-depth analysis or pointed conclusions, and because of this many worshipers sometimes fall asleep when such presentations are being made.
Then again, when it's time to give an offering to The Lord, some are now searching for tithe envelopes, or now going through their wallets to see if by chance there is any money there, and then on the spur of the moment, they decide to give whatsoever is found by chance. This type of action shows that there was a lack of deliberate planning, in setting aside in advance that which is to be returned to the treasury, and therefore our services and offerings to the Lord do become second-class in nature, resulting in second-class blessings. In all that we do for the up-building of the kingdom of God there should be serious thought, deliberate planning, and perfect execution of the plans thus laid, and when this is done our offerings to Him, whether in praise or in service, will ascend as a sweet aroma to Him who deserves nothing but the very best. May God add His blessing to the study and practice of His every word. "Good night" and God bless!
