As It Was In The Days of Noah. 02/17/2015 (Evening thought)

Genesis 6:1  And it came to pass" ..... "when men began to multiply on the face of the earth 2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.  5 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.  11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.

This passage of scripture describes what the condition of the earth was like in the days of Noah, when God saw fit to bring a flood of waters upon the earth, in order to end the constant rebellion of the human race against Him. Specific sins are pointed out as characterizing that era, and Christians living today should study them closely, for according to the scriptures, they are scheduled to be repeated just before the second coming of Christ. One of the more blatant sins pointed out in the passage was the violation of the marriage institution, where men were taking a plurality of wives, thus making the sin of polygamy rampant. Another prominent sin of that time was the incessant violence of man toward man and beast, thus filling the earth with woe, and shedding much innocent blood.

Yet another sin of that age was the imagination of the thoughts of the heart, from which spring decisions and actions, these being described as being evil on a continual basis. Whatsoever we do as human beings always begins as a thought, and if the thoughts were only evil continually, then it means that their entire days were spent sinning against God and man, and when they  retired to bed at night, it was to dream of more evil to do the following day.

A very terrible condition of the antediluvian world is thus presented here, hence the reason why it became necessary for God to wipe them out of existence, saving only eight who were found righteous at the time the doors of the ark were shut. What is worthy of note is that the population of the earth at that time was approximately what it is right now, and therefore the prophecies of Christ and other Bible writers should be given urgent consideration, since a repeat of what then took place is now taking center stage. Let's read:

Matthew 24:37  But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, 39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

What we are seeing taking place in the middle east are just dark omens of what will take place in our own backyard very soon, because the very same crimes committed in the days of Noah are now rampant across the land, and even though there is a form of godliness being peddled and practiced in our neck of the woods, it is often seen to be riddled with gross errors, sins, and ungodliness, masquerading under a semblance of Christianity, and some of the same sins of which the antediluvian world was found guilty, are now taking place in the very pulpits of the land, thus confirming to our hearts the words of Christ that His return is imminent, even at the doors.

It behooves us therefore to live in readiness every day, for just as the flood came upon the ancients suddenly, just so the end of human probation will close without warning and which ever side of the spiritual fence we are found, will determine our eternal destiny. We therefore end with a passage of scripture which reminds us that the choices we now make will decide whether we will be saved or lost, and therefore, The God of heaven encourages and advises us to choose wisely each day. Let's read:

John 5:22  For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:  27 And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.  28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, 29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

May God add His blessing to the study and practice of His word. "Good night" and God bless!
