The Effect Of Sin On The weather. 12/25/2015 (Evening thought)

Jonah 1:7 And they said every one to his fellow, Come, and let us cast lots, that we may know for whose cause this evil is upon us. So they cast lots, and the lot fell upon Jonah. 8 Then said they unto him, Tell us, we pray thee, for whose cause this evil is upon us; What is thine occupation? and whence comest thou? what is thy country? and of what people art thou? 9 And he said unto them, I am an Hebrew; and I fear the Lord, the God of heaven, which hath made the sea and the dry land. 10 Then were the men exceedingly afraid, and said unto him. Why hast thou done this? For the men knew that he fled from the presence of the Lord, because he had told them. 11 Then said they unto him, What shall we do unto thee, that the sea may be calm unto us? for the sea wrought, and was tempestuous. 12 And he said unto them, Take me up, and cast me forth into the sea; so shall the sea be calm unto you: for I know that for my sake this great tempest is upon you. 15 So they took up Jonah, and cast him forth into the sea: and the sea ceased from her raging.

This story is as simple and plain as it gets, for it's so easy to reason from cause to effect in this incident, that if I were to read this story to my puppy dog, he also would understand. In this instance, Jonah had sinned by walking contrary to God's revealed will, after the Lord had sent him on a mission to preach to the inhabitants of Nineveh. But instead of going where The Lord sent him, he headed in another direction, and so incurred the displeasure of God. The result was that a violent storm broke out upon the waters, and threatened not only Jonah, but all of the other passengers and sailors who were traveling in the same vessel.

This latter aspect of the results of sin is worthy of note, for by one man's sin, the lives of other innocent people can be placed in jeopardy, an inconvenient truth that philosophers, skeptics, and even very many Christians are loathe to confess. The fact that other people who may have had nothing to do with another man's sin, can suffer great losses as a direct result is one of the rude awakenings we will soon experience across America, for the laws of cause and effect are written in stone, and even though we may try in vain to bury our heads in the sand, there are certain "chickens" taken from Jonah's experience which will soon come home to roost. Let's read:

Jonah 1:5 Then the mariners were afraid, and cried every man unto his god, and cast forth the wares that were in the ship into the sea, to lighten it of them"... 13 Nevertheless the men rowed hard to bring it to the land; but they could not: for the sea wrought, and was tempestuous against them.

It's interesting to note that this experience of Jonah's is not the only instance given in the scriptures, pertaining to how sin affects the weather patterns, for we have seen in the Bible where on account of the frightful departures from truth and duty, the Jewish people were subjected to three and a half years of famine, which took a fearful toll upon man and beast. Then when Ahab inquired of Elijah why no rain had fallen, the direct answer was given, that it was because the nation had sinned against the commandments of The Lord. There was no other scientific reason such as global warming was given by the prophet, for it was not global warming that was the problem, it was global sinning. This fact was attested to by Elijah, and it is also confirmed in another passage by the prophet Isaiah. Let's read:

1st Kings 18:2 And Elijah went to shew himself unto Ahab. And there was a sore famine in Samaria. 5 And Ahab said unto Obadiah, Go into the land, unto all fountains of water, and unto all brooks: peradventure we may find grass to save the horses and mules alive, that we lose not all the beasts. 17 And it came to pass, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said unto him, Art thou he that troubleth Israel? 18 And he answered, I have not troubled Israel; but thou, and thy father's house, in that ye have forsaken the commandments of the Lord, and thou hast followed Baalim.

Isaiah 24:3 The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the Lord hath spoken this word. 4 The earth mourneth and fadeth away, the world languisheth and fadeth away, the haughty people of the earth do languish. 5 The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant. 6 Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.

On the 26th of June 2015, we followed the lead of Sodom and Gomorrah by instituting gay marriage laws in all fifty states, and we even took the issue to the next level, for although the inhabitants of Sodom had practiced this iniquity openly, yet they had not dared to change the original marriage institution as given in Eden to all of mankind. In addition to this grave, national sin, we found ourselves bowing down to the man of sin when he came to visit, and to speak to a joint session of congress, and also the united nations for the very first time in our history, thus fulfilling to a large extent, the prophecy written in the book of Revelation, that all the world will wonder after the beast.

Therefore it should be no surprise to anyone that the entire United States is now experiencing record warm temperatures at a time when most states should be seeing a white Christmas, and the full brunt of our actions against the commandments of God will only increase with the passage of time. As a matter of fact, it is quite possible that next year's hurricane season may be exceptionally brutal, with terrible tornadoes and other upheavals of nature, as a direct result of our rebellious course of action against God-ordained marriage. The hand of God has all this time stayed the warranted judgments against our actions as a nation, but though He may have borne long with our perverseness, the time will come when His protective care will be withdrawn, and the destruction that satan so eagerly desires to bring upon our nation, will then occur on a massive, and unprecedented scale.

We therefore end with three passages of scripture which confirm this sacred truth, and it is the will of God that we urgently make thorough work of repentance, lest the cries of the nation be heard far and wide, with no one to deliver or save. Let's read:

Ecclesiastes 8:11 Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil. 12 Though a sinner do evil an hundred times, and his days be prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, which fear before him: 13 But it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he prolong his days, which are as a shadow; because he feareth not before God.

Psalm 148:7 Praise the Lord from the earth, ye dragons, and all deeps: 8 Fire, and hail; snow, and vapors; stormy wind fulfilling his word.

Proverbs 1:27 When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you. 28 Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me: 29 For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the Lord: 30 They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof. 31 Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices. 33 But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.

He that hath an ear to hear, let him hear what The Spirit saith unto the churches. "Good night" and God bless!
