Global Warming Or Global Sinning? 01/19/2015 (Morning thought)

Isaiah 24:4  The earth mourneth and fadeth away, the world languisheth and fadeth away, the haughty people of the earth do languish.  5 The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant.  6 Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.

This passage of scripture shows the dire results which accrue after a violation of the laws of God has taken root in the earth. Spiritual law and natural law both originate with God, and a violation of one adversely affects the other, but the spiritual law is the much more formidable and potent of the two. Many of the occurrences which take place with the drastic changes in weather, the melting of the icebergs, and violent hurricanes and tornadoes, are often credited to global warming, but according to the scriptures, the real reason is global sinning, as is clearly stated in our passage for today.

The Bible makes it abundantly clear that disobedience to the sacred laws of God adversely affects the weather, and a constant violation of His statutes and instructions causes the soil to become very stubborn in the production of fruit and grain. When Jonah disobeyed God by heading to Tarshish instead of to Nineveh, as The Lord had commanded him, a violent storm broke out and threatened the lives of everyone on board the vessel, until in desperation they decided to cast lots, so as to ascertain who the culprit might be. They were then startled to find out that it was Jonah who had disregarded the voice of God, and then in their quandary, they asked his advice on what they should do to alleviate the situation.

He then suggested the unthinkable, by instructing the sailors to throw him overboard, and as soon as this was done there was a sudden stilling of the tempest. The clouds dissipated and the sun shone in its brilliance. Let's read:

Jonah 1:10  Then were the men exceedingly afraid, and said unto him. Why hast thou done this? For the men knew that he fled from the presence of the Lord, because he had told them.  11 Then said they unto him, What shall we do unto thee, that the sea may be calm unto us? for the sea wrought, and was tempestuous.  12 And he said unto them, Take me up, and cast me forth into the sea; so shall the sea be calm unto you: for I know that for my sake this great tempest is upon you.  15 So they took up Jonah, and cast him forth into the sea: and the sea ceased from her raging.

Again the scripture plainly shows the dire results that affect the natural world when we depart from the path of integrity and obedience, to follow our own ways. Whereas the land may have produced fruit and grain bountifully before disobedience, the tide is turned dramatically when we embark upon a wrong course of action, as is clearly shown in  the experiences of the Hebrews when they withheld from God His due. Let's read:

Haggai 1:5  Now therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts; Consider your ways.  6 Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.  7  Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Consider your ways.  9 Ye looked for much, and, lo it came to little"...... Why? saith the Lord of hosts. Because of mine house that is waste, and ye run every man unto his own house.  10 Therefore the heaven over you is stayed from dew, and the earth is stayed from her fruit.

Any science which dispenses with the input of spiritual law into the human experience is seriously flawed at best, and will be at a loss for answers as to why the earth and its resources are being increasingly disturbed, with no reasonable explanation or solution in sight. As these phenomena increase, such as the mega-storm Sandy, and hurricane Rita and Katrina, scientists the world over will be forced to think twice about their so-called proven theories regarding the natural world, for there will soon be exhibitions of no ordinary character in the natural world, and also deadly hurricanes and tornadoes which will increase in severity and intensity, and for which there will be no scientific or logical explanation.

We therefore end with a passage of scripture which teaches us the truth behind these deadly occurrences, and the appropriate response on our part should be an immediate return to the  laws, principles, and family values God has written in His word. Let's read:

Luke 21:10  Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:  11 And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.  25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;  26 Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.  27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.  28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

May The Lord add His blessing to the study and practice of His every word. God bless!
