1st Timothy 6:20 O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called: 21 Which some professing have erred concerning the faith" ......
This passage of scripture warns us against the belief in false science and theories which divorce God from His created works, which as the passage clearly states, causes many to err from the faith. Our current methods of forensic bone analysis, the process by which the age of bones found in the earth is determined, becomes flawed when it is used to determine the age of some archaeological finds, for our current methods put the existence of some animals way into the distant past, numbering millions of years. The earth is absolutely not millions of years old, for man at his current rate would obviously have become extinct long ago, without the proactive intervention of a Merciful God in our behalf, according to what the scriptures plainly state. Let's read:
Lamentations 3:21 This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. 22 It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
The information given in Genesis chapters five and eleven gives us a very detailed account of the years of those who lived before and after the flood, starting with Adam, who lived for 930 years and ending with Terah who lived for only 205 years before expiring. This information flies in the face of evolutionary science which teaches the survival of the fittest, for in the details given in these two chapters, it can clearly be seen that a steady diminishing of the length of days that man is able to exist has indeed occurred. Let's read:
Genesis 5:3 And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, and after his image; and called his name Seth: 4 And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters: 5 And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died.
Genesis 11:32 And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years: and Terah died in Haran.
The difference in life-span between Adam and Terah is a whopping 725 years, which represents a precipitous and continuous drop, added to which the Bible now only allots approximately seventy to eighty years of existence to the average person, which means that somebody is lying to us, and it's not God, for God cannot lie. These facts do not harmonize with the theory of evolution, and therefore tells us that certain aspects of our educational system, and the science it teaches are fundamentally flawed. Let's read:
Psalms 90:10 The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.
When the ages of those who lived before and after the flood are added together we only get several hundred years, nowhere close to the millions and millions of years that false science attributes to those who have gone before, and therefore there is something very wrong with what our children are learning in secular schools of the day, as it pertains to the age of our planet, and life as it existed in past ages. According to the Bible, both the science, and the history we are currently teaching have holes and serious disconnects in them, and therefore it becomes necessary and wise to follow the scriptural record where it leads.
We therefore end with a passage of scripture which calls upon us to guard our faith in The Living God as being our most valuable asset, for if we subscribe to the teachings of philosophers and professors who are not guided by the Holy Spirit, we will ultimately find ourselves wandering in the mazes of unbelief and infidelity, which are sadly symptomatic of our day. Let's read:
Colossians 2:4 And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words. 6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: 7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. 8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. 9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. 10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power.
