How Sin Affects The earth. 09/04/2014 (Evening thought)

Genesis 4:8 And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him. 9 And the Lord said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother?..... the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground. 11 And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand; 12 When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength.

This passage of scripture relates for us the first murder that took place on our planet, and it also clearly shows that there is  a direct relation between rebellion and the productivity of the earth. The curse which God uttered against Cain was a statement of fact, delineating the natural results that would accrue on account of violating the law which says "Thou shalt not kill". Science would have us believe that there is no such link, and that the forces of nature are governed by separate physical and natural laws that are entirely independent of what we do, or what we refuse to do. But nothing can be further from the truth, for the Bible teaches us that God is the author of both natural and spiritual laws, and therefore a violation of one directly affects the other.

This sacred and solemn truth needs to be brought into the equation as we search for answers as to why the earth is presently saddled with irresolvable tumults, and as year by year the land becomes more stubborn as it pertains to its cultivation and consequent production, thereby forcing scientists to come up with new ways to coax it into producing food, and in some cases resorting to forbidden methods such as genetic modification in order to supply earth's hungering millions with produce that has greatly diminished nutritional value.

The reasons for this diminishing productivity does not lie with the natural laws that we so often focus on, but rather with the violation of the moral law and other statutes and ordinances which God has given for the well being of man and beast, and also the earth itself. This sacred truth has been revealed several times in the scriptures, as evidenced by the experience of the Hebrews at the time of the prophet Haggai, when many of them had withheld their tithes and offerings, and as a result, The Lord's house was left in disarray, while the building project to restore it was neglected. Let's read:

Haggai 1:3 Then came the word of the Lord by Haggai the prophet, saying, 4 Is it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your ceiled houses, and this house lie waste? 5 Now therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts; Consider your ways. 6 Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes" ......... Why? saith the Lord of hosts. Because of mine house that is waste, and ye run every man unto his own house. 10 Therefore the heaven over you is stayed from dew, and the earth is stayed from her fruit.

The reasons here given by The Eternal God have nothing to do with physical and natural laws, nor even the recurring cycles which bring rain and summer heat in their seasons. The reason was a violation of spiritual laws, and therefore, in all of our understanding of the sciences, there is one very important factor we should never ever forget, that the well being and happiness of the entire human family is always directly linked to a faithful adherence to the laws of God, which govern both the spiritual and physical nature of man.

In our day there has been a signal departure from what God has made very plain in His word, as it pertains to our moral obligations to both God and man, and on account of a constant violation of His statutes, the world is rapidly descending into a state of chaos and diminished productivity, a situation that will inevitably call for the soon return of Christ. We therefore end with a passage of scripture that calls upon us to repent and follow after righteousness, if by any means the coming crises can be averted. Let's read:

Isaiah 1:19 If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: 20 But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.

May we in our own personal lives submit ourselves daily to God, for the laws He has given us to live by are for our best good and longevity. "Good night" and God bless!
