Correct Interpretation of Scripture. (Part 2) 07/03/2014 (Evening thought)

Hebrews 5:13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. 14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

The strong meat referred to in this passage has to do with the deep things of God that are written in the scriptures, which must be searched out, as for hidden treasure. When we read the Bible in a casual manner, we only receive surface information, but if we study the word of God intently and systematically, with the intention of doing His will, great truths would be revealed to us, of which we had no prior knowledge. One of the ways in which The Lord often disseminates important truths, is by giving us information that pertains to the material world, which then contains great spiritual truths, and vice-versa, a method which we refer to as the two-pronged system of interpretation.

For instance, in the book of Leviticus, God gave us information regarding the selling of oneself into slavery, and the way that the person thus sold could be redeemed by a family member or next of kin. Let's read:

Leviticus 25:47 And if a sojourner or stranger wax rich by thee, and thy brother that dwelleth by him wax poor, and sell himself unto the stranger or sojourner by thee, or to the stock of the stranger's family: 48 After that he is sold he may be redeemed again; one of his brethren may redeem him: 49 Either his uncle, or his uncle's son, may redeem him, or any that is nigh of kin unto him of his family may redeem him; or if he be able, he may redeem himself.

This law that had application in the physical realm, may on the surface seem to be describing only, the transaction between man and man regarding voluntary servitude. However, when we examine it a bit closer, we see in it a direct representation of the redemption that was paid for us by Christ. In verse twenty seven, it speaks of a person selling himself to a stranger. The Bible then teaches us that we were sold under sin through Adam's transgression. Let's read:

Romans 7:14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

The passage in Leviticus also mentions this selling as being transacted with a stranger who waxed rich. This stranger is no other that satan, who by his cunning and artifice waxed rich, in that the kingdoms of this world were sold to him, together with Adam and Eve, and all of their posterity, that's how we became his lawful captives. Let's read:

Isaiah 49:24 Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered? 25 But thus saith the Lord, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children.

Mark 3:26 And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end. 27 No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house.

The house, which represents the human agent, was satan's legal dwelling place until Christ died to redeem us, after we were sold under sin, that's why Jesus says the "strong man" must first be bound, and then "his goods" can be spoiled. And that's why in the temptation in the wilderness, satan offered to Christ "his goods" in exchange for worship, for as yet, the sacrifice to redeem us had not been made. Let's read:

Luke 4:5 And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. 7 If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.

But the same passage in Leviticus twenty five says that a next of kin, or one of the bondman's brethren could redeem him, who was sold into slavery. Let's read again:

Leviticus 25:48 After that he is sold he may be redeemed again; one of his brethren may redeem him.

In the book of Hebrews we see the Son of God being born of a woman, to redeem us who were under satan,s legal rule, for according to the law in Leviticus, the One who pays the redemption price must of necessity be a blood brother or next of kin, and that's why Christ had to become one of us in order to redeem us. It's all there in Leviticus twenty five, resting beneath the surface, and therefore must be carefully dug up as hidden treasure. Let's read:

Hebrews 2:11 For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren, 14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; 17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.

All of these and other sacred truths are submerged below the simple law of selling oneself into slavery in the temporal realm, and the only way they can be discovered is by digging deep, careful study, and the illumination of the Holy spirit who guides us into all truth. we therefore end with a passage of scripture which calls for a renewed interest in the discovery of scriptural truths, for when we are thus engaged, there is no limit to the knowledge and understanding of the scriptures that will be imparted to us. Let's read:

2nd Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.

May the Lord add His blessing to the study and correct interpretation of His every word. "Good night" and God bless!
