Psalms 34:6 This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. 7 The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.
This passage of scripture tells us that The Lord takes a personal interest in our safety, and therefore sends His mighty angels to protect us from dangers, seen and unseen. These guardian angels, though hidden from view, are never asleep, but are continuously on high alert to prevent anything detrimental, that is not God's will, from happening to those who earnestly seek His face. This promise is of particular relevance in our day, where life seems to be so uncertain, and where there is so little respect for the sacredness of human life.
As we have all witnessed on the news recently, the tragic loss of life in those who were blown out of the sky in the Malaysian jet at thirty-three thousand feet, with no time for last minute repentance or change. It tells us that we are certainly living in an evil world, today more than ever, as was accurately predicted in the scriptures. Let's read:
2nd Timothy 3:1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
Today we are seeing the literal fulfillment of this prophecy, and thus it behooves us now more than ever to trust in the promises of God for our personal protection from harm and danger. As Christians, we are required to take the necessary, reasonable steps in averting danger as far as possible, but we are not to become obsessed with security as the secular world is, because God has already promised protection to those who put their trust in Him.
The down-side of human protection is that we can never put all of the stops in place, for as one new security gadget is invented, a new way to override it is discovered, and as one security measure is implemented for our computers, hackers ultimately find a way around it, and so we are continually searching for ways and means to protect ourselves from ourselves, thus the failed cycle continues on and on with no end in sight.
God is now calling on Christians and people everywhere to place our trust and confidence in Him, by fulfilling the prerequisites of faith and obedience to His word, and when these necessaries are put in place, protection will follow, so that we would not have to lose sleep over situations we cannot control. We therefore end with a passage of scripture which calls on us to keep our heads lifted to the skies, from whence cometh our help. Let's read:
Psalms 1:1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. 3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. 4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. 5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. 6 For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
Let us then put our total confidence in the Eternal God, for His tender mercies are renewed to the faithful every morning. "Good night" and God bless!
