Galatians 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
Many Christians start their journey to the kingdom of God on a high note, full of zeal and good works, but after a while, very many begin to slow down, their zealousness wanes, and they get bored to the point that their christian experience is reduced to forms, without any real joy or fulfillment. This condition known as lukewarmness must be avoided like the plague, for it puts a person in a comfort zone where they neither move forward nor backward for many years, and as a result, a settled complacency in their relationship with God slowly saps all of their original God-given energies.
In order for this dangerous condition to be avoided, our strength, both physical and spiritual must be renewed on a daily basis, through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, who infuses new life into the Christian, in response to our desire and request. God never forces His way on anyone, and although we are given a portion of His Spirit when we give our lives to Him, yet that first installment is not sufficient to carry us through our entire Christian journey, and therefore, must of necessity be renewed on a daily basis. The way that our strength is renewed is by waiting upon God every day. Let's read:
Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
This simple, yet important instruction seems to be one of the most difficult to carry out on a continuing basis, for some where along the line, other issues seem to often grab our attention, and gradually, God and spiritual interests are left on the back burner. Christians should not seek and serve God only when it is convenient to do so, for if we adopt that policy, it will just be a matter of time before the devil surrounds us with a million and one issues to keep us always busy and engaged in those things that are not as important as our eternal destiny and well-being.
There are days when Christians do not feel to pray, and there are days when we do not feel to study the scriptures, but our lives should never be run by feeling, but should be run by firm discipline, a word that is derived from Disciple. If we allow temporal interests to gain the ascendency, then there will inevitably be a proportionate drop in our zeal in seeking God, but if we be steadfast and consistent in waiting upon God, then the impetus and energy to keep moving forward will be given us daily, and thus we will be strengthened to overcome new hurdles and to penetrate new frontiers, both in the spiritual and physical realm.
We therefore end with a passage of scripture which encourages us to stay the course, for the promise of eternal life is given to those who endure to the end. Let's read:
Hebrews 10:35 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. 36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. 37 For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. 38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. 39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.
May this be our experience both now and forever. "Good night" and God bless!
