Matthew 17:19 Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? 20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
This passage of scripture assures every believing child of God that faith is the means whereby the omnipotent power of God is accessed and released in our lives. When Christ made the profound statement that nothing shall be impossible to us if we believe in Him, He was just reaffirming an ages old fact, that faith in God is the way in which new frontiers are penetrated, and thus we are able to boldly go where no man has gone before. Every barrier, every hurdle, every problem, and every daunting obstacle can be routinely and successfully surmounted by exercising a living faith in God.
This is how for the very first time in human history, a human being was able to dodge the inevitable bullet of death, and was translated to heaven. Ever since the fall of our first parents, people had watched with despair and grief as their loved ones were laid to rest, nevermore to return from the portals of the tomb, and this fact was confirmed by God Himself when He stated that by eating of the forbidden fruit, man will surely die. And Adam and Eve did die, as also did all those who came after them, but there was one man, who through faith in God was able to resist the approach of death and was taken to heaven without passing under the domain of the grave, an occurrence that had never before taken place. Let's read:
Hebrews 11:5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
This is the same method used by Sarah to penetrate a new frontier in science, by having a child after she had passed the period of menopause. Logical reasoning along well- established scientific lines would have declared this miracle to be impossible, but because we serve a God who specializes in impossibilities, she was able to conceive and bear seed, to the utter chagrin of the then known scientific world. Let's read:
Hebrews 11:11 Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised. 12 Therefore sprang there even of one, and him as good as dead, so many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable.
In our day we are surrounded with a whole lot of scientific research that stretches to its limits, the bounds of human experiment and invention, and yet there is an infinity beyond. When as Christians we face daunting tasks, and are confronted with hurdles that defy any logical resolution, let's remember that faith in God is the one asset we have at our disposal, to accomplish the impossible, and therefore with this spiritual weapon in our arsenal, we can live victoriously through any and every perplexing situation.
We therefore end with a passage of scripture that should serve to strengthen us in the difficult situations and challenges we may face, and if we exercise a living faith in God, then nothing shall be impossible. Let's read:
Ephesians 3:14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; 17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
May God grant us His grace, so that this may be our experience both now and forever. God bless!
