The Sabbath Versus Evolution. 04/19/2014 (Morning thought)

Genesis 2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. 2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. 3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

This passage of scripture tells us that an intelligent God made intelligent plans and executed them in an intelligent manner, in order to bring the earth into existence. The Sabbath which is a memorial of His creative work was given to mankind to preempt atheistic theories and vagaries such as evolution. it is a very sad commentary on modern society, that in this age of so-called enlightenment and knowledge, that we now teach in most schools, that the earth came into existence by a series of uncoordinated events, that somehow happened to come together at the right time, and at the right place.

The very thought that a "Big Bang" could happen at any time without any forethought or coordinated planning really scares me, for it leaves open the possibility that one day we might wake up to find that the world as we know it, has completely "evolved" into some mysterious, abstract place called "never land". Worse yet, according to the theory of evolution, we might one day "evolve" into some unknown kind of creature, that doesn't need food or shelter, or even companionship, for who knows when and where the very process of "evolving" will stop, and scarier yet, what it might lead to.

The Sabbath was given to us so that as we review the handiwork of God, our hearts and minds would be drawn out to Him in love, and in an intelligent appreciation for all of His wondrous works. The Bible tells us that God's creative works themselves appeal to our intelligence and understanding, and should lead all who are endowed with the power of reason to conclude that there must be a God somewhere. Let's read:

Psalms 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. 2 Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. 3 There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. 4 Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun, 5 Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race. 6 His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.

This certainly could not happen by chance as evolution claims, for science now shows that if the earth were a bit closer to the sun we would all be burnt to ashes, and if the world was a bit further, we would all freeze to death. There must be a God somewhere!

Then again we have the creation of man, where the Bible clearly states that an intelligent God formed man from the dust of the earth, and this was done only after extensive and intricate planning, as the delicate and complex operations of the human body clearly demonstrate. Let's read:

Psalms 139:14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. 15 My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. 16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

Man is so bent on taking God out of the equation that science now resorts to any and every means to discredit the great facts of creation, and these efforts, even though they make no sense, are now incorporated into our educational curriculum. That's why the great God of heaven is now calling all sincere and honest minded people everywhere to observe the Sabbath day in honor of His creative works, so that we do not become stranded on the rocks of infidelity and false science, to our own hurt.

We therefore end with a passage of scripture that calls upon us to zip up our boots and go back to our roots, to the beginning of time when God created the heaven and the earth, and all things that are therein. Let's read:

Isaiah 40:18 To whom then will ye liken God? or what likeness will ye compare unto him? 21 Have ye not known? have ye not heard? hath it not been told you from the beginning? have ye not understood from the foundations of the earth? 22 It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in: 25 To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One. 26 Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth.

We sincerely hope and pray that the Sabbath (Saturday) will be kept holy, as a memorial of God's creative work, for evolution is the antithesis of intelligent creation. God bless!
