Daniel 4:7 This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.
This passage of scripture reveals to us the fact that no ruler on this earth comes to power in and of their own wisdom, might, and power, for the Bible tells us that the powers that be are ordained of God, meaning that they are in power because of God's providence alone. This sobering fact is not nearly understood as it ought to be, and as a result the human agent is often found to be taking the glory of his or her achievements to themselves. Let's read:
Romans 13:1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. 2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God" ......
What is even more worthy of note is that not every ruler that God ordains is a Christian or god-fearing person, for there are many whom God has brought upon the stage of action who were atheistic or who were totally averse to the principles of righteousness, but were brought into power to fill a specific role in God's greater plan of redemption. Now it is very important for us to note that God's will is that everyone should come to repentance and to a knowledge of the truth as it is in Christ Jesus, but if for any reason, a ruler chooses not to go this route, then the tenure granted them by God is then used to fulfill other purposes such as corrective measures for other nations, or so that the knowledge of God may be diffused throughout the earth, amongst others.
A striking example of this truth occurred in the experience of pharaoh, king of Egypt who was raised up by God for the purpose of letting the knowledge of the true God be known to other pagan nations, who either ignorantly or deliberately chose wrong courses of action. Pharaoh like the king of Babylon could have been saved in the process, but he deliberately chose not to acknowledge the fact that there is a God in heaven to whom all men are held accountable, and because of his choices, he suffered the same fate as did Belshazzar, who ignored the deep, spiritual lessons of his father's past experiences. God placed both pharaoh and the king of Babylon on the throne, and Nebuchadnezzar will be saved, whereas pharaoh will be lost, solely because he refused the knowledge of The Most High. Let's read:
Exodus 9:13 And the Lord said unto Moses, Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord God of the Hebrews, Let my people go, that they may serve me. 15 For now I will stretch out my hand, that I may smite thee and thy people with pestilence; and thou shalt be cut off from the earth. 16 And in very deed for this cause have I raised thee up, for to shew in thee my power; and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth.
All rulers , whether Christian or secular are therefore brought upon the stage of action by God through the contemporary processes used to either elect democratically, or appoint by royal lineage, or even through the use of force in some instances. Even though His work may not be easily discernible to the casual observer, yet it is God who is working silently in the background, bringing to pass His good purposes for the benefit or correction of the entire human family. Therefore when rulers are ordained by Him, it is incumbent upon all to fulfill the responsibilities associated with their office, in leading the nation in right paths, according to the knowledge and understanding granted them. This sacred duty is enjoined in the following passages of sacred writ, with the hope that those whom God has placed in positions of power and authority, may take heed. Let's read:
Proverbs 31:1 The words of king Lemuel" ..... 3 Give not thy strength unto women, nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings. 4 It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink: 5 Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted. 9 Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.
Proverbs 14:34 Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.
With the stunning victory given to conservatives in the recent elections, it is now their sacred duty to order the nation in right paths, being careful to observe and institute the principles of righteousness to the best of their God-given ability, because the same God who sets up kings also takes them down when they lift themselves up against His authority. The Lord is no respecter of persons, and has no preferences whatsoever based on skin color or gender, and therefore He requires that all political and religious leaders conform to the standard of right, as set forth in His word. To whom much is given, much is required, and because a flood of light and truth has been shed upon our nation's pathway, God will hold us to a much higher standard than other nations that are not thus privileged.
We therefore end with a passage of scripture which reiterates this sacred truth, and since we are as stated, "One nation under God", it is the will of The Lord that the urgently needed reforms and changes take place without delay. Let's read:
Acts 10:34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: 35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.
May God add His blessing to the study and practice of His every word, and may God bless America. God bless!
