Disease From Unnatural Causes. 10/19/2014 (Morning thought)

Job 2:4 And Satan answered the Lord, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life. 5 But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face. 6 And the Lord said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thine hand; but save his life. 7 So went Satan forth from the presence of the Lord, and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown.

This passage of scripture teaches us that not all diseases stem from natural causes, a fact that the scientific mind would be reluctant to subscribe to. In the study of disease and it's causes, the fact that there are unseen agencies at work is hardly, if ever brought into the equation, and because of our refusal to acknowledge this fact, we almost always go about seeking some vaccine, some drug, some scientific remedy, for certain diseases that are not natural in occurrence. Even Christ recognized this sobering truth as He went about from day to day, and from city to city, healing the many diseases of the people. Let's read:

Matthew 4:23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people. 24 And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.

In the case of Job, the Lord permitted satan to afflict him with a loathsome disease, because it was necessary to refute satan's charge before the heavenly intelligences that God had to bribe His people with health and wealth in order for us to serve Him. If God has to resort to bribing Christians into faithfulness, then it will be concluded that He is not good to the core, and therefore must use alternative methods and means to get us to love and obey Him. This was indeed a very serious, false accusation brought by the devil in the midst of the general council that was being held in heaven at that time, when all the appointed representatives of the un-fallen worlds were present. Let's read:

Job 2:1 Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the Lord. 3 And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause. 4 And Satan answered the Lord, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life. 5 But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face.

The result satan had hoped for did not occur as expected, for Job was found to be faithful in good times as well as bad times, because he had a personal relationship with The God whom he served. As it pertains to the disease with which he was afflicted, God later healed him completely, for there is no affliction that satan can bring that God does not have a remedy for, and this fact must be taken into consideration by all Christians, especially during the final days of earth's history in which we are now living.

When disease comes upon the Christian for which there is no known God-approved cure, then we must trust to the might Healer to do what only He can do. The current deadly Ebola virus is being treated with experimental drugs that have not been sufficiently tested for adverse side effects, and because of this we must exercise due caution in their administration, knowing that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Ghost. It's not every disease that comes upon the stage of action, that we find a man-made cure, and there will be times both now and in the future when we will have to trust to the omnipotent healing power of God alone. We are not left in doubt as to what course of action to pursue in such instances, for God has already given us mega promises for us to hang our hats on.

We therefore end with a passage of scripture which gives us the assurance that God will be there for us when our backs are against a wall, and we will see in the near future, that the same God who healed Job of his unnatural disease, will once again manifest Himself for the preservation of His people when no earthly cures or remedies are available. Let's read:

Psalms 91:1  He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. 3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence 7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. 10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. 11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. 12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

Let's take God at His word, and as we see these unnatural diseases becoming more frequent, let's lift up our heads and look up, for our redemption draws nigh. God bless!
