Why Persons Get Angry with God. Part [2] 03/06/2025 (Morning thought)

Psalms 73:1 Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart. 2 But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well-nigh slipped. 3 For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked. 5 They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they plagued like other men.

And so, the questions loom large in the mind of the Christian: Since God is God, Omnipotent, and Ruler over all, why doesn’t He do what folks think is the right thing, and deliver, and heal, and put to flight those who are crushing out the life of the poor and helpless?

Why not come down from the cross, and deliver Himself from the mob? Why not embarrass Judas into oblivion, and why allow the traitor to kiss you? Why heal the high priest’s servant, whose ear Peter cut off in an act of social justice, while other faithful Christians may be languishing for healing?

These and many other haunting questions threaten to derail the faith of Christians, even as the shadows of night deepen upon our planet, and it might seem to some minds as if the complaints of Asaph merit some consideration since to some persons it might appear to have a level of validity to it.

Psalms 73:6 Therefore pride compasses them about as a chain; violence covers them as a garment. 8 They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: they speak loftily. 13 Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency. 14 For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning.

May The Lord add His blessing to the study of His word. God bless!

Why Persons Get Angry with God. Part [1] 03/06/2025 (Evening thought)

Psalms 142:1 I cried unto the Lord with my voice; with my voice unto the Lord did I make my supplication. 2 I poured out my complaint before him; I shewed before him my trouble. 4 I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul.

The Christian in our day will have to confront and reconcile a few haunting questions which seem to have evaded correct answers for generations. Folks are rightly perturbed at the perversion of justice, at the senseless shedding of blood, and at the cruelty shown to everyday folk around the world. It irks us at our core, and we search for answers and yet, many are at a loss to account for what some see as God, missing in action.

Added to all this is the fact that the Bible says He is all powerful, and knows the end from the beginning, and therefore, the logical question is “Why doesn’t God do something, to stop the runaway train that this world is fast becoming? Why allow evil men, serial liars and wicked rulers to run riot unbridled, whilst the cries of the poor, and the suffering reach up to heaven. Since He is God in heaven and upon the earth why not hurl a few bolts of lightning from the heavens and take care of these fools once and for all.

After all, God does have the power to do so! This is the mode of thought and action John and his brethren, naturally resorted to when the Samaritans refused Jesus safe passage through their town. They felt like Christ should never subject Himself, and His disciples to insult or scorn since He had the power and the wherewithal to put those rude folks in their place.

Psalms 142:5 I cried unto thee, O Lord: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living. 6 Attend unto my cry; for I am brought very low: deliver me from my persecutors; for they are stronger than I.

May God add His blessing to the study of His word. “Good night” and God bless!
