What’s Peculiar About You? 2 Part [1] 02/05/2024 (Evening thought)

1st Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

Last week we studied some of the peculiar aspects of the Christian’s life, as it pertains to the temporal, and now we must set our sights on the spiritual, so as to cultivate balanced perspectives. One reason why we began with the temporal, is because that is the area most readily seen and observed by those who are not yet believers.

As they observe with keen interest how God’s laws, principles and instructions are lived out in real time to the benefit of the believer, then they are led to inquire after the spiritual components, which drive the temporal.

Daniel and his companions were first tested in the temporal realm, on issues such as diets and foods, and how well they did in college. Then, after they’d passed the smell-test they were ready for inspection in all religious matters, because there is a very close symbioses between the temporal and the spiritual.

Deuteronomy 14:For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God, and the Lord hath chosen thee to be a peculiar people unto himself, above all the nations that are upon the earth.

May God add His blessing to the study of His word. “Good night” and God bless!

What’s Peculiar About You? Part [16] 02/04/2024 (Morning thought)

Numbers 11:16 And the Lord said unto Moses, Gather unto me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom you know to be the elders of the people, and officers over them; and bring them unto the tabernacle of the congregation, that they may stand there with thee. 17 And I will come down and talk with thee there: and I will take of the spirit which is upon thee, and will put it upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with thee, that thou bear it not thyself alone.

In all directions the people were gathered at the door of their tents, weeping and lamenting. “The mixed multitude that was among them fell a lusting: and the children of Israel also wept again, and said, Who shall give us flesh to eat? We remember the fish, which we did eat in Egypt freely; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlic: but now our soul is dried away: there is nothing at all, beside this manna, before our eyes.”

Thus they manifested their discontent with the food provided for them by their Creator. Yet they had constant evidence that it was adapted to their wants; for notwithstanding the hardships they endured, there was not a feeble one in all their tribes. The heart of Moses sank. In his distress he was tempted even to distrust God. His prayer was almost a complaint.

“Wherefore hast Thou afflicted Thy servant? and wherefore have I not found favor in Thy sight, that You lay the burden of all this people upon me? ... whence should I have flesh to give unto all this people? for they weep unto me, saying, Give us flesh, that we may eat. I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me.”

Numbers 11:18 And say thou unto the people, Sanctify yourselves against to morrow, and ye shall eat flesh: for ye have wept in the ears of the Lord, saying, Who shall give us flesh to eat? for it was well with us in Egypt: therefore the Lord will give you flesh, and ye shall eat.

May The Lord add His blessing to the study of His word. God bless!
